How to track new memecoins and crypto tokens in your portfolio

by Esprezzo Team on December 19, 2024

Balance change alerts for memecoins and stablecoins including Pepe, USDC, TONCOIN and DEGENWe’re here with a new Dispatch update: Monitor wallets and contracts for balance activity of any token! While we’ve supported tracking for many assets out of the box, we received many requests for monitoring activity of new assets — more than we can keep up with. Starting today, you can add any token contract to Dispatch and track balance changes and threshold crossings for those tokens immediately.

Whether you're managing a treasury wallet, making sure your rewards contract doesn’t fall below a certain amount, monitoring liquidity pools, or just keeping track of your crypto portfolio, Dispatch now makes it easier than ever to track the assets that matter most to you — across multiple chains, in real-time. For versatility, you can either log on-chain asset activity to Dispatch, or get alerts delivered straight to your Discord, Telegram, email, or webhook

What's new?

Until now, Dispatch provided a set of “system contracts” — contracts you could choose from a dropdown to track activity of team-selected contracts. While this made it easier and faster to track popular, established assets, we heard a recurring question: "Can I monitor token X?"

Today’s update changes that. Now you can easily monitor balance activity for any token on Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Optimism, or Arbitrum networks. Whether you want to know when your balance of the token for a hot new project goes above or below a certain amount, or keep an eye on inflows and outflows from other wallets and smart contracts, you’ll get real-time updates delivered exactly where you need them, and as usual, you won’t need to write any code.

Dispatch provides crucial details like balance change amounts and timestamps, and links to transactions on block explorers so you can easily explore further.

Balance monitoring use cases

Balance monitoring has always been a critical but time-consuming task. For teams running protocols, managing treasuries, or tracking crypto portfolios, staying on top of balance changes helps you make better decisions and react faster to market shifts. Our latest update makes it easier to focus on what matters — using the data – rather than spending time collecting it.

Here are a few ways it could come in handy.

Monitoring your own token

If you're the token creator or part of the project team, staying on top of your token's activity is important. From tracking treasury balances to monitoring token distribution wallets, you'll know exactly when significant changes happen so that you can act fast.

Keeping up with DeFi protocol tokens

Monitor token balance activity in lending pools, watch stablecoin holdings in protocol-owned wallets, or track reward token distributions. Want to know when the balance of a new asset in a staking contract or treasury wallet drops below a certain threshold? Set up balance monitoring for specific addresses  you care about and get alerted when important shifts happen.

Keep track of your crypto portfolio

For individual traders and investors, catching early signs of activity is everything. Set alerts for balance changes in wallets holding memecoins, social tokens, or any asset you’re keeping an eye on. It’s a powerful way to spot trends and make informed moves.

These are just a few examples, but the flexibility of this feature means you can tailor it to any use case. Put it to work for your project, protocol tracking, or personal trading strategies — Dispatch helps you stay on top of things.

Looking to monitor other smart contract activity?

Dispatch can track any event and function beyond token balances — from  DeFi operations to DAO activity.

Getting started with balance monitoring

Let’s see how to monitor a wallet or contract for balance activity of a new token with a step-by-step guide.

For this example, we  want to monitor Rollbit’s Hot Wallet for any changes to the balance of the Rollbit Coin ($RLB). After that, we’ll show you how to get alerts whenever the balance of Rollbit Coin in the wallet goes above or below a certain amount.

At the end of this guide, you will have learned how to create and add Esprezzo’s Dispatch Discord Bot to a Discord server channel. The bot will let you know when…

  • A token balance changes (in a smart contract or wallet)
  • A token balance goes above or below a certain threshold amount

Rollbit Coin ($RLB) is the native token of Rollbit, a popular crypto casino and sports betting platform. With its growing ecosystem and active trading volume, it's a perfect example of how you can use Dispatch to track wallet and smart contract balance changes for newer assets. And because Dispatch supports multiple EVM chains, you can create your data feeds all from one place. This is not an endorsement or financial advice; you should always do your own research.

If you’re following along, you’ll need a Dispatch account. Don’t have one yet? Signing up is free and fast.

1: Monitor token balance changes

To monitor token balance changes and threshold crossings for any contract or wallet, we’ll be using Dispatch to create what’s called a “Patch”. Patches are data streams for on-chain activity where you set up triggers for on-chain activity, and when the activity you’re interested in happens, Dispatch delivers the activity details to you.

💡 Pro tip: Working with unverified contracts

Working with an unverified token contract? No problem. You'll just need the contract's ABI to set up monitoring. Check out our Help Center on tracking unverified contracts for guidance.

Create your Patch

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click Create a Patch.
  2. Select Asset balance change as the Trigger.
  3. Pick a notification channel or destination for alerts (Discord, Telegram, Dispatch Monitor, Email, or webhook). For this tutorial, we’ll use Discord.

Set Trigger conditions

  1. Choose the network (Ethereum, Base, Polygon, etc.).
  2. Under “Token,” click Add a contract and paste the token’s address.
    For example, Rollbit Coin: 0x046EeE2cc3188071C02BfC1745A6b17c656e3f3d
  3. Paste the address you want to monitor.
In our case, the Rollbit: Hot Wallet: 0xEf8801eaf234ff82801821FFe2d78D60a0237F97

💡 Pro tip: Adding multiple addresses

Need to track token activity across multiple wallets and contracts? You can monitor multiple addresses in one Patch by pressing the "+" button.

Choose your Action

  1. Choose how you want to receive alerts. For this tutorial, we’ll choose Discord.
  2. Click Continue to move on.

Confirm Action details

  1. Decide if you want a direct Discord message (just to you) or alerts posted in a specific channel. Let’s post in a server channel.
  2. Select your server and channel.
  3. If it’s your first time using Dispatch with Discord, you’ll be prompted to connect and authorize the app.

Test and turn your Patch on

  1. While it’s optional, we recommend completing Step 5 — sending a test message, to ensure that Dispatch can reach the destination you’ve selected .
  2. Once everything looks good, press the “Turn Patch on” button to activate monitoring.

Running into issues connecting to Discord?

Discord permissions can be finicky. When trying to post to a channel  make sure you have the right permissions for the Discord server and channel.

How to monitor balance threshold activity

What if you need to know when the balance of a particular token falls below a certain amount, or goes above a certain threshold? Monitoring token balances ensures you'll always know when assets hit critical levels, essential for treasury management, liquidity tracking, and wallet updates. By setting up threshold alerts, you can skip the manual checking and get notified exactly when you need to.

Let’s see how to get alerts when the balance of a token in a contract or wallet goes above or below a certain threshold amount.

Starting from where we left off

If you didn’t close Dispatch after you created the previous Patch, click the ‘Create another Patch’ button in the Patch created success modal. If not, no worries — go to Patch Builder by clicking the “Create” button in the navbar from anywhere in Dispatch.

Success modal in Dispatch

Choose the “Balance threshold” Trigger

  1. From the dropdown, select ‘Balance threshold reached’.
  2. Click ‘Set Trigger Conditions’ to proceed.

Set Trigger conditions

Next we'll tell Dispatch the address we want it to monitor, the token we want it to track, the critical threshold amount, and specify if the balance alerts should trigger when going above and/or below that threshold amount.

  1. Select Network: Choose the network hosting your token (e.g., Ethereum, Polygon, Base).
  2. Select the token you want to monitor balance threshold crossings for.
We’re going to be checking for when RLB goes above or below another number again, so let’s select it from the dropdown.
  1. Double-check the addresses to ensure accuracy.
  2. Enter the balance threshold amount
  3. Choose when you want to be alerted.
  • Above: Get notified when the balance exceeds a certain amount.
  • Below: Get notified if the balance drops below your set threshold.
  • Example: Set alerts for balances going below 36,000,000.

Choose your notification channel

Under Action type, pick how you’d like to receive alerts: Discord, Telegram, Email, webhook, or Dispatch Monitor. We’re going to select Telegram this time.

Decide on the Action event:

  • Send a direct message to your Telegram account
  • Post the alert in a Telegram channel or group

This time, we'll choose a direct message; with this option, you'll get a private Telegram message whenever the balance of $RLB in the Rollbit Hot Wallet goes below 36,000,000.

Connect and test the Action

  1. As usual, we recommend sending a test message to make sure Dispatch has the right permissions and can DM us.
  2. Now let’s give the Patch a short name: RLB balance below 36,000,000. Press the “Turn Patch on” button, and you’re all set.

This concludes the step-by-step balance monitoring guide.
